- Satyendra Nath Bose, FRS, he is best known for his work on quantum statistics in the early 1920s, providing the foundation for Bose-Einstein statistics and the theory of the Bose-Einstein condensate.

- Buddhadeb Basu, Major Bengali writer of the mid-twentieth century, belonging to the Kollol age.
- Debabrata Basu, Basu’s theorem on the independence of a complete sufficient statistic and an ancillary statistic was given in a 1955 paper.
